Police officers in Lagos State have confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the possession of human parts, specifically suspected tongues.
Officers of the Rapid Response Squad intercepted the suspects, Isah Amohullahi, 30 and Abubakar Isah, 32, respectively were arrested during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Otedola Bridge on October 15, 2024.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Tuesday, said the suspects were found with the body parts while in a taxi.
He said that further investigations led to the arrest of another individual, Gbolahan Temidayo, in Oyingbo Market, Lagos, from whom the tongues were allegedly purchased.
Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrests in a statement, added that the case was under investigation.
“The investigation is ongoing at the command headquarters, and if found culpable, the suspects will be charged in court,” he said.
