Rukaiya Abubakar, wife of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says her husband has strong support for women’s participation in politics.
Rukaiya said this on Wednesday while speaking at a town hall meeting in Kaduna state.
The wife of the former vice president recently organised town hall meetings in several northern states to discuss ways to strengthen and deepen women’s political participation.
The town halls were also aimed at educating grassroots women on Atiku’s recovery plan and his plan to solve issues affecting Nigerian women.
Speaking in Kaduna, she encouraged the women to vote and support her husband and the PDP in the 2023 general election.
“My husband, Atiku Abubakar, is the only presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 election that has a strong support for women and youth inclusion in governance,” she said.
“It is in light of this that he had promised to set aside $10 billion for youth and women empowerment.
“Please, support my husband, support Aishiru Kudan, Kaduna state governorship candidate and other contestants in the Peoples Democratic Party.”
