Lagos Mother Fights Off Suspected Ritualist Attempting To Abduct Kids

Published

on

A suspected ritualist, Temitayo Olafisoye, has been arrested after a failed attempt to kidnap some pupils of a private school on Omole Estate in the Ojodu area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that Olafisoye and an accomplice, Kayode Akinola, visited the estate on Sunday and started loitering around the school premises.

Their suspicious movement was reportedly noticed by some of the estate guards.

However, on Monday, a woman, who used her car to convey her children to the school, reportedly parked close to the premises so the pupils could disembark from the vehicle.

After parking, the woman got down to open the door for her children to alight.

Olafisoye was said to have run into the driver’s seat of the vehicle in an attempt to drive the kids away.

His plan, however, failed as the woman had switched off the car engine and held the key as she made it to open the door for the kids.

Our correspondent learned that the mother, upon observing the suspect’s action, raised the alarm, which caught the attention of the guards, who apprehended Olafisoye.

A source revealed that the accomplice, Akinola, fled the scene after observing that their plan had failed.

The source said, “A security from the estate said the man was seen hanging around there since yesterday. The woman came down to go round to the passengers’ side to open the door for her kids.

“The man ran into the car, locked the doors, but unfortunately, the woman had turned off the car engine and alighted with the car key. She raised the alarm when the man entered her car and then security came out. He came to survey how to carry out his plan. His partner ran away.

“It happened this morning (Monday). The suspect said he and his partner came from Ibadan to kidnap children for ritual.”

Olafisoye was seen kneeling in a video clip while being interrogated by security guards and other residents on the estate.

Asked why he attempted to kidnap the pupils, the suspect said, “I came from Ibadan. I used to come to Lagos to kidnap children. We will kidnap and put the children inside a vehicle and take them away.

“I have kidnapped a lot of children around Berger, Iyana Ipaja, Ikotun, Iyana Iba. I am Temitayo Olafisoye, my colleague is Kayode Akinola. We came from the Apata area in Sango, Ibadan. We usually use the children for money rituals.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for further investigation.

“The case is confirmed. The suspect is Kayode Olafisoye, and he is presently at the Ojodu Police Division. His accomplice is on the run and will eventually be arrested. The case will be transferred to the SCIID,” Hundeyin said.

UPDATE: Bobrisky To Sue VeryDarkMan For N1bn, Claims Voice Recording Was AI-Generated [PHOTOS]

Bobrisky, the social media celebrity, has threatened to file a N1 billion lawsuit against activist VeryDarkMan for alleged defamation.

In a document dated September 27, Bobrisky claimed that VeryDarkMan shared a recording, allegedly created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), to tarnish her reputation.

Bobrisky’s legal counsel gave the activist a 24-hour ultimatum to retract the statements and apologize or face legal action.

The situation began after VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Otse, posted an audio recording online in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop charges against her.

Bobrisky, whose birth name is Idris Okuneye, had been released from prison on August 5 after serving a six-month sentence for abusing the naira.

In the audio, Bobrisky supposedly said her “godfather” and Haliru Nababa, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) controller general, ensured she served her sentence in a private apartment instead of a prison.

Bobrisky denied the claims, calling the recording “fake” and asserting that she did not bribe the EFCC.

Both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan were invited by the EFCC over the bribery allegations, and the agency’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered an immediate investigation.

The federal government also suspended two NCoS officials over the bribery claims involving Bobrisky.

Lagos, Ogun Warn Residents As Oyam Dam Plans Water Release

Published

The Lagos and Ogun state governments have warned residents living in flood-prone areas, especially those near riverbanks, to temporarily relocate or prepare for possible flooding due to the planned release of water from the Oyan dam.

The release, managed by the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), is an annual process to regulate dam levels during the rainy season.

Last year, flooding caused by water release from the dam affected residents of Isheri Riverview Estate and surrounding areas.

To prevent a similar situation, both state governments have advised communities in low-lying areas to take precautions, including moving to safer locations, as the release could cause rivers to overflow and result in severe flooding.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that advocacy efforts were underway, urging people in vulnerable areas like Ajilete and Owode-Onirin to relocate.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, noted that the dam’s water release volume would be increased to create more reservoir space.

However, OORBDA assured the public that the release would not cause flooding, and the dam has undergone regular maintenance to prevent any failures.
