At the 2025 Conservative Party Conference, UK Tory leader Kemi Badenoch pledged to establish a “removals force” modeled on the US ICE, tasked with deporting 150,000 illegal migrants each year.
The proposal is part of a broader immigration overhaul in which the party also intends to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), abolish immigration tribunals, and restrict legal aid for migration cases.
Critics have pressed Badenoch on how the deportation targets will be achieved, particularly where the migrants will be sent. She responded that documenting the destination was “irrelevant,” asserting that undocumented migrants should not remain in the UK.
