It’s Tough Choosing Between Nigeria, England — Arsenal Striker, Bukayo Saka

Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, says it will be tough to choose between playing for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and England’s Three Lions at the international level.

Saka has had a breakthrough season with the Gunners, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the London side, a performance that earned him a four-year contract extension and an international battle over his services by England and Nigeria.

The 18-year-old, who has represented England at the youth level, is yet to get a call up from both nations but recent interests from both associations have made the decision harder for the former Arsenal academy player.

Recent reports in England say the Nigeria Football Federation has intensified efforts to attract the Arsenal player to feature for them after recently losing Chelsea duo, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, to the Three Lions.

“It’s a tough choice,” Saka told Skysports.

“I’m happy to have represented England at youth level but I’m also proud of my Nigerian heritage from my parents.

“We haven’t been picked by any team so it’s about staying humble and when the time comes we’ll make the decision.”

England manager, Gareth Southgate, was at the Wembley stadium to watch Saka and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, during their semi-final FA Cup clashes against Manchester City and Chelsea respectively and Saka believes England’s future looks bright.

“Greenwood and (Jude) Bellingham have so much quality. Whether they are 18 or 28 or 38, they’ve got quality and when you’ve got quality you’re going to be in the team, providing you can apply the right attitude,” Saka said.

“I feel the age isn’t really a factor because they’ve got maturity and quality beyond their years. That’s why they’re being trusted I believe,” he added.
