Laila, daughter of former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has married her partner Saleh Maitala in an intimate ceremony at the National Mosque in Abuja.

The private event was attended by close family and friends, who witnessed the union of the couple.

Laila wore a stunning, heavily beaded dress and pearl-adorned veil, while Saleh donned a traditional black Babban Riga and cap.

Atiku Abubakar, dressed in all-white native attire, expressed his joy on social media, wishing the newlyweds a happy and fulfilling marriage.

He also thanked those who joined them on this special occasion.

“The joy of giving away a daughter in marriage supported by family and friends is priceless. I wish Laila and her husband, Saleh Maitala, a blessed marriage,” he wrote.

“My gratitude also goes to all the dignitaries, associates, and friends who honoured my family with their presence at the wedding Fatiha in Abuja today.”

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections; Umar Ganduje, ex-Kano governor; and former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai were among the prominent persons who attended the event.

Others included Abdulsalami Abubakar; former head of state; Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa; and Iliya Dammagum, the acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
