The Kano State Government has announced that a total of 632 individuals have been arraigned in court for allegedly vandalizing public facilities and engaging in looting, amidst ongoing protests in the state.

According to a statement released by Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, spokesman for the state governor, the suspects were apprehended for destroying public property in various parts of the city.

Tofa emphasized that the state government is resolute in its commitment to maintaining public order and tranquility, and warned that those convicted of vandalism will face the full force of the law.

He added that the state government planned to provide massive training programmes for youths in various trades to promote self-reliance and curtail their likelihood of being used to cause a breakdown of law and order.

The spokesman also announced that a special commission of inquiry would be set up to investigate those behind the killings and looting of public buildings in the state.

“The commission will ascertain the root causes of the killings and destruction of public buildings,” he said.

He explained that the protesters carrying Russian flags were not affiliated with the government, and urged the security agencies to unravel those behind them and their motives.

According to him, the genuine protesters in the state had submitted their grievances and requests to the government, which he said would be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu.
