DSS Confirms Plot For Interim Government By Misguided Political Actors

Published

on

The Department of State Services (DSS) has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria. The Service considers the plot, being pursued by these entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis. The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace loving Nigerians. This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country.

The planners, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, among others, to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency. Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.

The DSS supports the President and Commander-in-Chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover and will assiduously work in this direction. It also supports the Presidential Transition Council and such other related bodies in the States. It will collaborate with them and sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations come 29th May, 2023.

Consequently, the Service strongly warns those organising to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their devious schemes and orchestrations.

Stakeholders, notably judicial authorities, media and the Civil Society, are enjoined to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert peace and stability of the nation. While its monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.

JUST IN: Judge Orders Kanu Bundled Out Of Court For Being Unruly

Published

on

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), be removed from the courtroom after he became unruly during ongoing proceedings.

Before the disruption, the court had taken up three fresh motions filed by Kanu following the adjournment of the case for judgment. Justice Omotosho dismissed all three motions, ruling that they were unmeritorious and therefore could not halt the progress of the matter.

As the judge prepared to proceed with the ruling scheduled for delivery, Kanu objected loudly, insisting that the court could not continue because he had not filed his final written address. His resistance escalated as he repeatedly interrupted the session.

Raising his voice, Kanu accused Justice Omotosho of bias, alleging that the judge “did not know the law”. His conduct prompted immediate intervention from court security officials.

Following the judge’s directive, Kanu was escorted out of the courtroom, bringing the disruptive exchange to an abrupt end while the court prepared to resume with the delivery of the final judgment.

Court officials said the ruling would proceed despite the defendant’s removal, with details expected to follow once the judgment is delivered.

EFCC Arrests Archbishop Of Faith Healing Ministry After Church Members Sprayed Naira Notes On Cow During Service In Warri

Published

on

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has taken into custody Angel Oyeghe, the self-acclaimed archbishop and founder of Faith Healing Ministry located in Warri, Delta state. According to the agency, her arrest followed the circulation of a widely shared video showing congregants engaging in actions that raised concerns about the misuse and abuse of the Nigerian currency during a church event.

In its statement released on Wednesday, the EFCC explained that Oyeghe was arrested on Tuesday after operatives reviewed the viral footage, which captured “several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme”. The commission said this public display prompted immediate investigative action given the nature of the violation observed in the material.

The EFCC added that Oyeghe will face charges in court, noting that the allegations against her include conspiracy, naira mutilation, and suspected money laundering. The agency emphasised that her arrest was coordinated by officers attached to its Benin zonal directorate, who had been monitoring reactions and intelligence linked to the viral video.

According to the commission, “the Commission is on the trail of arresting other suspects, as their action contravenes the provision of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007”. Officials say more individuals identified in the footage will be apprehended to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable under the law.

The EFCC further stated that “Archbishop Oyeghe has made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.” The agency said interrogations are ongoing and additional evidence is being compiled to support the prosecution process once the case is filed.

US Congressman Meets Ribadu-Led Delegation In Washington, Says Trump Doesn’t Make Idle Threats

Published

Riley Moore, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, met with a 10-person high-level Nigerian delegation in Washington, D.C., on November 19. The delegation was led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and included key figures such as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, and Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede.

Moore, known for his vocal stance on Christian persecution in Nigeria, hosted the meeting in which he described the engagement as “frank, honest, and productive.” According to him, the discussion centred on the ongoing persecution of Christians, terror threats in Nigeria, and potential areas for U.S.–Nigeria cooperation to curb violence.

During the meeting, Moore also reaffirmed that former President Donald Trump’s earlier warnings were not empty. He said Trump, who had previously threatened to enter Nigeria “guns-a-blazing,” “does not make idle threats.”

Moore added that Nigerian officials detailed to him the country’s security challenges, especially in relation to counterterrorism, protecting vulnerable communities and responding to widespread violence. He said the delegation expressed serious concern about religious persecution and expressed a desire for intensified collaboration with the United States.

He concluded by saying, “The United States stands ready to coordinate and cooperate with Nigeria,” adding that Trump had made it clear that his administration would “not tolerate continued violence against Christians or other forms of religious persecution.”

Despite these claims, the Nigerian government has consistently rejected allegations of targeted killings of Christians, describing them as politically motivated or exaggerated.
