Nigeria Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the Federal Government of Nigeria will decide on a new national minimum wage on Monday.

The Minister made this statement on Friday. He said an “enlarged meeting of all key stakeholders in the government circle at both federal and states has been scheduled for Monday.”

Negotiations have been at a deadlock with labour unions insisting on a N30,000 per month minimum wage, the federal government proposing N24,000 while state governors are holding out for N20,000.

Recall that Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina said on Thursday that the N30,000 minimum wage is not possible due to the inability of governors to fund the money the union is requesting.
