The death toll has risen to eight in the Ondo State saga, where a jilted lover, Deji Adenuga, set ablaze eight members of the family of his estranged girlfriend, Titi Alade.

The jilted boyfriend had on Tuesday set ablaze the members of his girlfriends family in their one-room apartment, with five dying on the spot.

The incident, in Igbodigo, Okitipupa Local Government Area, saw Adenuga spraying the one-room apartment with petrol at about 2am and setting it ablaze.

Alade was, however, said not to be in the house when the deed was done.

Adenuga has since fled with the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, promising that he would be smoked out.

However, out of the three family members rushed to the hospital, three have been reported dead.

Those that died are Glory Alade, Mercy Alade, Joy Alade, Adebayo Alade, Aladesewa Alade, Johnson Alade and Ayorinde Alade.

Joseph said: “I can confirm to you that three more people have died.

“It only remains the girlfriend (Titi) in the family that survived.

“For the suspect, we are still on his trail and we will soon get him.

“Titi is presently on admission in a hospital because she is still traumatised.”
