Dangote Not Involved In Kogi Assembly Fire Outbreak-Mgt

Published

on

Our attention has been drawn to a circulating Press Statement issued by the Kogi State Government, wherein the Dangote Group was accused of allegedly sponsoring arsonists to set the Kogi State House of Assembly on fire in the early hours of Monday, October 10, 2022.

The statement titled, ‘Obajana: Desperation sets in as imported hoodlums burn down Kogi Assembly’, which was signed by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo pointedly accused our company of burning the Complex “in an attempt to possibly destroy evidence relating to the ownership tussle between the Kogi State Government and the Dangote Group over the Obajana Cement Company.”

As a socially responsible corporate entity, we totally refute this allegation and condemn this unprofessional and irresponsible attempt to smear our image before local and international investors and thus erode our brand value.

Dangote Group would never stoop so low as to sponsor thugs to destroy any property, belonging to either government or any individual. This runs contrary to our business ethos and everything we stand for as a leading manufacturer with teeming customers and consumers across Nigeria and Africa.

Our lawyers have been mandated to react appropriately to the damaging allegation from the Kogi State Government within the full extent of the law.

We urge our stakeholders and the public to disregard such irresponsible and insane statements as we ask all our stakeholders, namely shareholders, customers, suppliers, employees, and the entire community of Obajana and Kogi State at large to remain calm while we follow the legitimate and lawful process to resolve this matter with the State Government.

US Decides: Trump Supporters Celebrate Anticipated Victory In Florida

Published

Jubilant Donald Trump supporters gathered in Florida on election night, eagerly awaiting the former president to speak after securing key wins in his bid for the White House.

Men in formal suits and women in dresses mingled at the Palm Beach County Convention Centre, where they rubbed shoulders with a devoted Trump fan sporting his name emblazoned on a leather vest.

Whether dressed formally or in casual attire, many attendees wore Trump’s signature red “Make America Great Again” baseball caps.

“I feel like Trump has won this election. This is over, and I feel like the world’s about to be much greater,” said Moses Abraham, 22.

On Wednesday, Trump moved closer to a potential victory over Kamala Harris, leaving his Democratic rival with a narrow path to block a remarkable political comeback.

“This is like 2016. I feel we are on the same path to win. I feel very optimistic about tonight. Donald Trump is the perfect fit for America,” said Jo Ann Poly Calvo.

Florida, located in the southeastern United States, has become a spiritual home for Trump as he faces legal challenges in his native New York.

He maintains a residence in this Republican stronghold at Mar-a-Lago, which also serves as a members’ club.

While some attendees at the Palm Beach event expressed nervousness about the election outcome, with Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris locked in a close race in opinion polls, others were more confident.

Rocco Talarico, 68, wore a “MAGA” cap and a leather vest inscribed with “Born to Ride” and “Donald Trump.”

He expressed confidence that Trump would prevail.

“We need that because our country right now has no borders, our crime is bad, our stock market is bad, and our gas and food prices are high. Kamala (Harris) did nothing for four years,” he said.

Mike McCormack, 50, was even more critical of Harris as he awaited Trump’s appearance on what could be one of the most consequential US election nights in recent memory.

“I don’t feel Donald Trump could be influenced from outside as much, and I strongly believe that Harris is actually controlled and manipulated. I have no faith in her,” he told AFP.

He also questioned the integrity of the polls, a topic Trump has raised repeatedly without evidence, suggesting a conspiracy by his opponents to deny him the presidency.

“I have some confidence in this election (but) not a whole lot. There have been some suspicious things happening. People have been arrested and convicted of voter fraud. So, I don’t know,” said McCormack.

US Decides: Trump Takes The Lead As Results From Presidential Election Trickle In

Published

Donald Trump is now just 24 electoral college votes away from winning the United States presidential election.

The Republican Party candidate has accumulated 246 electoral college votes, while Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party has secured 210 electoral college votes at the time of reporting.

There are 538 votes in the electoral college, and it takes 270, a majority, to win the presidency.

Trump is now projected to win the battleground state of North Carolina and the swing state of Georgia, leaving Harris with a mountain to climb. At this point, there appears to be no realistic pathway to a Harris victory.

A “hush” has descended on the Harris campaign headquarters, with various outlets reporting that the campaign will no longer be engaging with the press until the results are finalized.

The US presidential election has been a fiercely contested one and was considered “neck-and-neck” and “too close to call” even before the first mail-in ballots were cast.

Immigration, border security, and inflation were Trump’s strongest campaign points, while Harris focused on reproductive rights for women and building “an opportunity economy.”

Harris entered the race in July after US President Joe Biden’s shaky debate performance in June.

Barack Obama, a former US president, and a number of celebrities had acted as Harris surrogates on the campaign trail.

Trump has promised to “tighten the border” and “root out illegal immigrants” if re-elected. The Republican Party candidate has repeatedly described the Democratic Party as “weak.”

The Republican Party has also taken control of the Senate.
