The Ogun State Police Command has said it is on the trail of two suspected rapists who allegedly defiled two juveniles in Abeokuta’s Isabo area and Abule-Osho in the state’s Ifo Local Government Area on Thursday.

Report has it that a 12-year-old pupil of Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, was allegedly defiled by a yet-to-be-identified man in the area.

According to The Punch, a police source said that the girl and her sister were said to have been roaming the street after their parents had allegedly sent them away from home for an unknown offence.

While walking down the street, the yet-to-be-identified suspect invited them to his house for shelter, where the victim was suspected to have been raped the night before she and her sister were sent away in the morning by the suspect.

It was gathered that the principal of the school, who became aware of the incident, approached the Ibara Police Division along with the victim to report the crime.

Similarly, in the Abule-Osho, Olambe area, a seven-year-old girl who had left her house to buy a snack was suspected to have been defiled by an unknown man.

It was gathered that the girl had left her grandmother’s house to buy a snack at a nearby stall before he was allegedly dragged to a nearby bush by an unknown man and defiled on Thursday.

Report has it that the defilement resulted in uncontrollable bleeding from the minor’s private part and that he was hurriedly rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Reacting to the crimes via a WhatsApp chat on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed both incidents, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects.

Odutola said, “Efforts are on top gear to begin arresting those involved in the crime. Our men visited the scenes of the crimes. We have also commenced intelligence gathering to arrest the suspects for prosecution.”
