The lawsuit of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election has been dismissed by the Presidential Election Petitions Court.

The APM based its lawsuit on Kashim Shettima’s alleged double nomination for the 2023 elections.

It claimed that Shettima was nominated as Tinubu’s running companion despite the fact that he was still standing for the Borno North Senatorial District in the same elections.

The conclusion of the Tribunal is based on the petition’s perceived lack of logic and failure to reveal any justifiable cause of action, according to the Chairman of the PEPC, Justice Haruna Tsammani, who read the judgment.

Justice Tsammani said he found the petition to be lacking in coherence and substance.

He said the decision to strike off the case underscores the importance of presenting clear and logical arguments in legal matters.

He said a petition must disclose a valid reason for action to proceed through the legal process effectively.

He emphasized the significance of adhering to legal procedures and ensuring that petitions are logically structured and provide a valid reason for action.

He also highlighted the role of the justice system in upholding the principles of fairness and adherence to established legal norms.
