Chelsea have confirmed the sacking of manager Graham Potter after his side’s loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The news has been confirmed by the club’s official website.

“Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club,” a statement read.

“Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid.

Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Potter has had a poor run of form and not performed to expectations since joining the club from Brighton & Hove Albion on September 2022.

He came under immense pressure on Saturday after the Blues were beaten 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, leaving them 11th in the table.

Reacting to the loss at Stamford Bridge, Potter said, “I don’t like to blame anybody, I have to take responsibility,” said Potter.

As for the jeers of the fans, the former Brighton boss added: “We can feel the pain of the supporters… I understand when you lose at home, the emotion of the game is such that people are going to be disappointed and frustrated and angry.
