BREAKING: BON Awards 2019, 2020 Hosts Announced!

The Best of Nollywood Awards has confirmed the host and date for this year’s event.

Last year, the prestigious awards took place at the Kakanfo conference center in Ibadan, Oyo State with the former Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as the Chief host.

According to the BON 2019 Media coordinator, Victor Ojelabi, aside from this year’s event being slated for December 14, 2019, in Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Dr. Kayode Fayemi have been announced as Chief Hosts for 2019 and 2020 editions of the awards respectively.

Dr Ganduje, the Executive Governor of Kano State, stated that the center of commerce is more than excited to host this year’s edition.

“We are happy BON Awards will be bringing the nation’s movie industry to Kano to feel the beauty and tranquility that our God-given land is known for.

“Kano, which is the second-largest industrial center after Lagos State in Nigeria and the largest commercial center in Northern Nigeria, also boasts of several tourist centers for our guests to feed their eyes on,” the governor said.

He also assured the organizers of the state’s full readiness to host the awards.

“While preparations are already in top gear to ensure a hitch-free and grand event, Kano people are happy to embrace the Nollywood industry,” he concluded.

In a related development, the Chief Executive Officer, Best Of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, said that the Government of Ekiti State has also declared to host next year’s edition of the event.

“For the year 2020’s edition of the awards, the people of Ekiti would be opening their doors to the popular players in the Nigerian movie industry by the special grace of God.

“Ekiti government, under Gov. Kayode Fayemi, has in its quest in putting the state on the tourism map of Nigeria, made the state a destination for entertainment.

“We can categorically state that the efforts of Mr. Governor in terms of changing the narratives about the state is yielding great results, and BON Awards is excited to bring the whole Nigeria, through the Nollywood industry, to experience his great strides without being told,” Oloketuyi stated.

Best of Nollywood Awards is an annual industry event honouring outstanding achievements in the Nigerian movie industry.

The first edition, hosted by the then Lagos State government, was held in 2009 and so far, the events have held in 9 states across the country since inception.

Gospel Musician, MofeToluwa Aransiola says that Covid should also be an alert and a wake-up call for us to seek God’s salvation.

“If you are viewing this now then God has kept you safe from Covid to this date. Many of us have lost loved ones to the pandemic and tomorrow it might be one of us. God is real and heaven is real. In times like this, we need to stay closer to God and keep seeking salvation.

Today, I released my debut album that appreciates God for his safety throughout the 2020 Covid 19 Pandemic to this year. Some of the songs are also a cry for help to God to have mercy on us and give us salvation.”

About Mofetoluwa Aransiola

MofeToluwa Yetunde Aransiola is a multifaceted lady with a creative mind, she is popularly known as Princess by her family and friends here in Malawi, this is not unconnected to her royal Yoruba roots stemming from her home country, Nigeria.

She has a passion for humanity and is a medical practitioner with a background in psychotherapy. She is currently studying Public Health Management at the University of Malawi, this also includes a previous first degree in computer science and business management from the Wisconsin International University.

She has an elder sister who is an icon in the Nigerian music industry and has learnt under her tutelage for more than 15 years, her sister is one of her greatest motivation for singing, she has also drawn inspiration from other great African musicians over the course of the years with specific emphasis on world best gospel artists.

“You’ve been Good” is an album that appreciates God for His safety during these difficult times of the 2020 Covid19 Pandemic that’s brought fear and turmoil to the world at large.

The album is beautifully composed by her through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and one of her elder brothers and Pastor, Jonathan Gershon. It is produced by Gift Chisamba, arranged by Tolu Olokun with talking drum beats made in Nigeria by Femi Atorise.

The songs have been carefully delivered in different Malawian languages alongside different African languages of every country she’s lived in especially her home country Nigeria.

She hopes you feel the presence of Jesus calming every storm and speaking peace to your soul at the sound of each track…

First Anniversary As Mayegun: K1 Preaches Peace And Safety In Nigeria

Exactly this date last year, quintessential Fuji Lord, King Wasiu Olasunkanmi Marshal popularly known as K1 De Ultimate was bestowed with the honour of the first Mayegun of Yorubaland by His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, OBA LAMIDI ADEYEMI, CON.

As the symbol of peace in Yorubaland, the versatile and prolific artiste took the opportunity to canvass the need to maintain peaceful coexistence among the people of the Yoruba race, Nigerians, and people all over the world.

In a message signed by his Media Aide, Mr. Kunle Rasheed, the music icon said the world and indeed Nigeria, fervently need peace in this New Year which is a catalyst for growth and development in any society.

K1 in his message, also took time out to preach safety with regards to mankind’s new enemy; Covid-19 which had invaded the world since December 2019.

He urged Nigerians to obey the safety protocols imposed by the government. According to him, “if we observe the safety measures, the unwanted enemy will be defeated in no time”.

SAD: Orisabunmi’s Younger Sister Dies, Three Days After Brother’s Death

Three days after the death of popular Yoruba actress, Mrs. Folake Aremu, widely known as Orisabunmi, her younger sister Mrs. Janet Ademola, has reportedly passed on.

News of the demise of Ademola, the last child of the family, was broken on Saturday by Gbenga Onisola, her nephew.

It will be recalled that Orisabunmi’s brother, Steve Onisola, had died on Thursday, barely 24hours after the death of the popular actress.

Onisola, the Technical Director of Kwara Falcons Basketball Club, Ilorin, passed on at age 71 after a brief illness.

Ademola, who was mourning her sister’s death described her elder sister as her best friend, a caring sister, and a mother with a rare heart of love.

She had said, “The death of my elder sister, Mrs. Folake Aremu, is very painful because of what she stood for in our lives as family members. She was very friendly and caring; she never left her siblings untended. We are pained because she stood in as a good mother for all of us.

“As the last child of the family, she took very good care of me. We were very close and used to each other. She gave her best to ensure that I was well catered for. She was a selfless fellow. She was very humane and she persevered a lot. She would not underrate anyone.”
