Ghanaian broadcast journalist Gifty Anti Oheneyere has said that some female teachers and lecturers are also in the habit of demanding for sex in return for good grades from their male students.

Gifty stated this while reacting to the #SexforGrades investigative documentary released by BBC yesterday October 7th.

In a post she shared on her Instagram page, Gifty said in Ghana, sex for grades is also being practiced in Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools

A CALL FOR CURE NOW —- By Oheneyere Gifty Anti.

In fact, we have long gone past the period of Naming and Shaming.

And I am glad, some are boldly doing it now.

Sex for Grades in Tertiary institutions and you are shocked? Are you kidding me?

My dear, it is happening in primary, JHS, and SHS. It started long ago and when we talked about it we were told we are ‘demonizing’ teachers and lecturers.

Listen, there are very good teachers/lecturers and I have male and female tutors who give me information all the time, about what is going on.

I am tempted to post the recent one about some teachers in a school in the Brong/Ahafo area who actually ‘share’ the Primary 6 girls before they get to JHS 1. So by the time they get there, the teachers know ‘who belongs to who’. Such nonsense. Such evil.

And oh, by the way, it’s not only male teachers who demand sex for grades. Some female teachers do the same. And the victims of such demonic people in authority are both male and female.

So yes, some male and female teachers and lecturers and ‘bosses’ are demanding sex from both males and females.

We are in trouble because we have given too much power to teachers and lecturers to determine the destiny of our young ones.

We base potential success in life on what grades you get while in school. So some of these tutors hold our young one’s hostage.

Our country is sick and we need to find a cure, RIGHT NOW” she wrote

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday convicted and sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for the murder of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.

Delivering judgment, Justice Yusuf Halilu, held that there was circumstantial evidence coupled with her testimony and statement to the police that she “fatally” stabbed her husband to death in Abuja on November 19, 2017.

The judge orders that she should be remanded in Suleja prison till she exhausts her right of appeal.

Her deceased husband has been variously reported as a son or nephew of a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Haliru Bello.

Sanda, the mother of two, her mother and her other relatives broke down in tears immediately the judge pronounced her guilt.

Her mother who was occupying a back seat sped out of the court as she wept.

Sanda herself, while crying rushed out of the courtroom which was next to the dock but the judge ordered that she should be brought back to the courtroom.

In the middle of the confusion, the defense lawyer attempted to make a plea for allocutus (plea for mercy) but the judge said he needed to rise for the courtroom to be restored to normalcy.

The judge said he would return to deliver the sentence after some minutes.

When the judge returned from the break, he said the offense for which the convict was convicted being one based on Section 221 of the Penal Code, there would be no room for allocutus.

“It has been said that thous shall not kill. Whoever kills in cold blood shall die in cold blood,” the judge said.

“Maryam Sanda should reap what she has sown,” he said, adding, “it is blood for blood”.
