Interesting Times Ahead In Kogi As Dino Melaye Picks Guber Nomination Form

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, has picked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nomination forms for the Kogi State governorship election.

Similarly, another aspirant, Abubakar Suleiman, also picked the nomination documents for the Kogi election billed to hold on November 16.

The duo picked their nomination documents at the Abuja national secretariat of the PDP on Thursday.

Addressing journalists shortly after the nomination formalities, Melaye his decision to contest the election was informed by the agitation, clarion call and passion from people of Kogi state.

“The ambition is not mine but that of the people of Kogi state. There is the dire need to recover our state which has been completely battered, shattered and destroyed.

“Today, the magnitude and intensity of killings in Kogi State surpassed any other time in the history of our state. The state has never experienced such insecurity before.

“I have looked for people who believe that the welfare of workers of Kogi State is the basic priority of government and people who believe that security and the welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government and all these we will achieved

“Unemployment is on the high side. Retrenchment, sack and non-payment of salaries and pension are now a tradition in Kogi State. The economy and the economic activities in Kogi State have completely depleted. I have heard the loud cry from the Almighty and he said,: who do I send and I said, send me,” Melaye said.

The controversial senator vowed to defeat Governor Yahaya Bello in the coming poll, saying, “We are resolutely determined to chase the mediocre in Lugard House.

“We are too sophisticated to have Yahaya Bello as a governor. We are too intellectually mobile to have a classless character like Yahaya Bello as governor.

“He never won an election. He is a coronated governor. Now for the first time, he is attempting to contest to be the governor through electioneering process. This is his first time and we will prove to him that we are masters in the game and we will separate the boys from the men”

Also speaking with journalists after picking his forms, Suleiman said Kogi is in dire need of change in leadership, stressing that things have deteriorated in the three-and-a-half years that Governor Yahaya Bello has been in the saddle.

Bemoaning the poor state of infrastructure and economy in the Kogi, Suleiman said workers have been reduced to beggars while victimisation and intimidation of the people had become the order of the day.

Stating his mission for joining the race, Suleiman said, “I have a priority policy document that I have worked on, which include: social infrastructure, fundamentals of government, physical responsibility and economic development.

“The policies are intertwined. For example economic development includes job creation; empowerment is related to physical infrastructure. My social infrastructure plans include health, schools and roads. All these will be given serious consideration”.

Recall that another aspirant, Dr Joseph Ameh had obtained his nomination documents for the Kogi governorship race on Tuesday.

18 High-Profile Looters Who Ran Abroad To Be Repatriated Soon —- EFCC Boss

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to repatriate 18 high-profile looters hiding in some countries outside Nigeria.

Acting EFCC chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, disclosed this yesterday in Ilorin, Kwara State, during a chat with newsmen. Magu was in Ilorin to assess facilities at the Ilorin zonal office of the commission.

The EFCC chairman assured Nigerians that his agency would pursue the anti-graft war with renewed vigour this year.

He added that no ongoing corruption case across the country would be abandoned midway, and suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations in such cases were completed.

He also stated that the Ilorin zonal office of the EFCC was not established to witch hunt the immediate past Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

He said: “We will repatriate all looters hiding anywhere in the world. I think there are about 18 of them; I mean high-profile looters.

“We did not also establish the Ilorin zonal office to witch hunt anyone. Kwara is an integral part of Nigeria and deserves an EFCC office. We need the cooperation of the media in making Nigeria corruption-free. EFCC cannot do it alone.”

Answering another question, Magu said: “I feel good as acting EFCC chairman because we are performing and the media can attest to this.”

Magu further disclosed that he was going around the zonal offices to make sure that everything was under control, for the effective performance of the commission.

He affirmed that the campaign against corruption has just started, noting that part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda for his London visit was to seek the support of international bodies in the extradition of Nigerian looters hiding in foreign countries, disclosing that more looters would be repatriated for prosecution.
He disclosed the plan of the EFCC to organize a massive protest against corruption across the country on February 14, in collaboration with members of the National Youth Service Corps.

He sought the cooperation of the media to enable the agency to succeed in its efforts at making Nigeria corruption-free.

How We Killed Fireman Generator Boss; Collected N900m Original Land Document From Him, Dumped Butchered Body In Lagos Swamp — Medical Doctor [GRAPHIC PHOTOS]

A 42-year-old Medical Doctor, Daniel Ibeaji, has told police how he lured Anambra State billionaire and owner of Fireman Generators Chief Ignatius Odunukwe to his hotel room with the pretense that he wanted to buy a property from him.

Three other suspects identified as Arinze Igwe (26), hotel worker; Solomon Cletus (30); and Israel Obigaremu, an Uber driver (35), were arrested by the detectives attached to Zonal Intervention Squad of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos State after painstaking investigation.

According to Ibeaji, he went to Abuja for a function and saw the property at Katampe Estate and then approached the security guard that he is interested in buying it.

The guard introduced him to Chief Odunukwe via phone and they both exchanged phone numbers.

He said after he left Abuja and came to Lagos, he contacted Chief Odunukwe that he was the one interested in buying the building and they both fixed a price of N900 million for the property.

The Doctor said: “We met in Lagos before the incident to discussed some modalities. We then fixed another date for December 1, 2019, and before then I had my plan of what to do because he promised to come along with the original documents of the building. On that fateful day, my boys were already within the hotel premises and told them to be on alert.

“I was at a beach resort when he came to meet me. It was on Sunday. There was a lot of party going on in the hotel. Immediately he arrived, I walked him straight into my room where he sat on the sofa and we started discussing the business. After I drew I bag containing some money to show him that I am committed to buying the property. As he was bowing down to check the content inside the bag, I went behind him and hit him with an axe twice on the head and he fell down.

“Immediately, Chief Odunukwe fell down, he was still struggling on the ground, I called Cletus and we dragged him into the toilet, where we injected him with a poisonous substance. Then he was confirmed dead.

“I and Cletus forced his body into a carton, but the carton tore in the process. I then sent Cletus to get a Ghana Must Go bag, which we later used and then sellotaped the bag, after which we were planning on how to dump his body in the bush or expressway.”

Ibeaji said Cletus then went into the hotel with the hope to survey the area, adding: “Fortunately, one of the hotel workers, one Arinze, promised to help and we also promised to loan him N2 million if we are able to move it out of the hotel.”

Cletus on his own said when he saw Arinze, he lied to him that they have something they wanted to dispose and he doesn’t know where to dump it, adding: “When Ibeaji then came in and promised to loan Arinze N2 million, it was then he agreed to show us where to dump it.

“We were able to move the deceased’s remains out of the hotel through the laundry section because there was a serious noise at the hotel as a result of the party on a fateful day. When we got to Ogombo, we chopped the body into pieces and then threw the remains of the Chief into the swamp and went back to the hotel.

“I met Ibeaji in prison at Abuja. It was there Ibeaji told me he has a business he wanted me to help him execute in Lagos last year. When I came out of prison in September, we contacted each other by phone and we meet in Lagos. It was then he told me about the deal and promise to loan me N2 million to start a business of my own. I fell for the money because I don’t have hope to start my life afresh.”
