Arsenal’s longest serving manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of this season.
Wenger revealed this in a statement published on the club’s official website on Friday morning.
It reads: “After a careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.
“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years.
“I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.
“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special.
“I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high.
“To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club.
“My love and support for ever.”
BREAKING: Magu Regains Freedom After 10 Days In Detention
The suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has been released from police custody after 10 days in detention.
Magu was arrested on July 6, 2020, amid allegations of corruption and brought before the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel.
The suspended EFCC boss was accused of being unable to account for the interest accrued to recovered funds of about N550bn.
He was also accused of insubordination and buying a property in Dubai.
Direct Your Bail Request To Probe Panel, IGP Tells Magu’s Lawyer
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has asked Tosin Ojaomo, the counsel for the embattled former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, to direct the request for his client’s bail to the Presidential panel investigating his activities in the office.
The IG said the police were not investigating Magu and is accordingly, not being detained by the force but by the panel headed by a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami.
Adamu said this in a letter dated July 14, 2020, in response to the bail application filed by Ojaomo for the release of his client who had been in police custody since July 6.
The letter with reference CB:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.489/171 titled, ‘RE: Application for bail,’ was signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IG, DCP Idowu Owohunwa.
It read, “Your letter OOC/TOL/89A/07/2020 of July 10th, 2020 on the above-underlined subject, refers.
“The Inspector-General of Police directs that your attention be drawn to the fact that the Nigeria Police Force is not investigating CP Ibrahim Magu (your client) and he is accordingly, not being detained by the police but by the Presidential Panel that is investigating the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“The Inspector-General of Police, therefore, advises that you consider redirecting your request to the Chairman of the Presidential panel for appropriate attention.”
Braimoh’s Death: Lagos Assembly Directs Lawmakers To Undergo COVID-19 Test
Lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have been directed to undergo the COVID-19 test following the sudden death of its member, Tunde Braimoh, last Friday.
Temitope Adewale, representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency I, made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday.
Adewale said he had submitted himself for the COVID-19 test and the result was negative.
He said: “As directed by the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Sunday, I went and submitted myself for the COVID-19 test, and I have gotten my result. The test result came out Negative.
“To this end, it is our collective responsibility to be more careful and observe all the stipulated and given rules to help us prevent the transmission of this deadly virus.
“Wash your hands for 30 seconds regularly, avoid social gatherings, maintain social distancing, and at all times wear a face mask.
“The use of hand sanitizers should become a habit and finally, avoid touching your face and nose.”
Adewale, Chairman, House Committee on Transportation, said there was a need to fight the pandemic, which was beyond keeping safe but also to also know their status.
The lawmaker thanked his constituents for their love, support, and care, adding that he won’t be receiving any visitors for now
The Lagos lawmaker also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for their proactive and tireless fight against the pandemic.
