No fewer than 10 people are feared dead as fresh violence hit Benue and neighbouring Taraba state on Wednesday and Thursday. Chairman of Ukun local government Tyokaa Iberlogo said he had limited information concerning the attacks.
Jandeikyula, a Tiv village in Wukari area in Taraba, was allegedly the first to come under attack on Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of more than 20 persons, including a soldier.
It was gathered that some of the villagers are still missing, meaning the casualty could be more. In Benue, suspected herdsmen attacked Agbo community in Makurdi on Thursday.
The attacks came few days after the withdrawal of troops of Operation Cat Race deployed in the region to stop the attacks by herdsmen on the communities in the North-central region.
