INEC Finally Publishes Name Of Imo APC Governorship Candidate

Published

on

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has finally published the name of Senator Hope Uzodimma as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State.

The Senator’s name was pasted at the INEC office along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, with Akaolisa Cyprian Okechukwu, as his running mate.

Uzodimma’s name was displayed at about 07:52 as the authentic governorship flag-bearer of the APC.

This is coming about after 10 hours after INEC had pasted 67 other governorship names of various political parties, excluding that of APC.

PorscheClassy News had earlier reported that INEC did not add the name of the governorship candidate of APC, in Imo state on the list of governorship candidates it published on Friday.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emeka Ihedioha and 66 others were on the list, while that of the APC was seen missing.

Oshiomhole Is An Expert In Falsehood, Manipulation — Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has taken on the National Chairman the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, over the bribery allegation leveled against him, describing the chairman as an expert in falsehood and manipulation.

Okorocha, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwemeodo, said that he was not surprised at the allegation as a member of the party, Ahmed Gulak, had made the same allegation.

He said, “In giving account of his encounter with the DSS, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole once again took on Governor Rochas Okorocha, talking about how the governor offered him bribe and he refused and repeated his claim that he wants to stop the governor from building family dynasty.”

“Alhaji Ahmed Gulak had one month after his kidnap tale also made the same allegation of two million dollars bribe which he said he also rejected. Our worry is that Comrade Oshiomhole and Gulak have decided to impugn on the intelligence of Nigerians with all these their latest accounts.”

“On the side of Oshiomhole he has been telling the world that he wants to stop Okorocha from building a dynasty in Imo. And he only needed to be questioned by the DSS Personnel to remember that the governor offered him a bribe and he refused. Do Gulak and Oshiomhole think that Nigerians are not intelligent enough to detach the truth from falsehood. These are partners in falsehood and they are on a media campaign to cover up the mess they put themselves in Imo.”

To say the least, Adams Oshiomhole is the “father – father”of family dynasty or nepotism or “familiocracy”. Uche Nwosu is from Nkwerre Local Government, while Rochas Okorocha is from Ideato South LGA. They have no relationship aside the inlaw issue. The only relation of Governor Okorocha who is in his government is Ogechi Ololo from Owerri North. She does not answer Ogechi Okorocha. There is no other direct or indirect relation of Okorocha in his government. So, as it stands now, Rochas is the only Okorocha running election.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday released the list of governorship candidates in Imo State missing out the name of the candidate representing the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The electoral umpire published 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates at its office in Owerri, the state capital.

Our correspondent who visited INEC’s office in the state saw the candidates’ names and that of their running mates displayed alongside their credentials and personal information.

Among the top names who made the INEC lists are a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ike Ibe of the Independent Party and a former Senator, Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Others are Michael Ikoku of the Young Democratic Party, Linus Okorie of the Young Progressives Party and Alloysius Osuji of Mass Action Joint Alliance.

Three women emerged as governorship candidates. They are, Omeogu Chidiebere of the African Action Congress, Joy Udodiri of MMN and Adaku Ibe of the Democratic Peoples Party.

A source at the INEC office told our correspondent that there were court orders stopping the Commission from publishing the name of the APC governorship candidate.

Uche Nwosu and Senator Hope Uzodinma have been battling both in court and within the party for who should be its candidate.

While Nwosu was declared the winner of the October 6 APC governorship primary, Uzodinma was pronounced winner of the October 1 primary, which allegedly did not hold in the state.

REPORT: Oshiomhole Grilled By DSS For 9 Hours Over APC Primaries, Asked To Resign

Published

on

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday, TheCable reveals.

Oshiomhole was grilled by DSS operatives for nine hours after some APC governors alleged that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country.

Report says the APC chairman was asked to resign during interrogation by the DSS.

But Oshiomhole resisted the pressure to resign, saying he would only do so if he loses the confidence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The APC chairman told the DSS that the president was in the loop of every action he took during the party’s primaries.

“Adams Oshiomhole was arrested by the DSS, they didn’t show him any petition. It was alleged by some governors that he collected bribe during the primaries,” a source said.

“He was told to resign and he told DSS operatives that he will resign if he loses the confidence of the president. He said everything the party did, he (Buhari) was in the know.”

Another source said the president expressed shock at the governors’ move, saying he was not aware of the development.

“On Monday night Oshiomhole met with the president and briefed him on what happened and the president was shocked. The president said he did not know about it and promised to look into it,” the source said.

The APC primaries were marred by controversies. Elections in some states had to be repeated.

In Zamfara, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the party will not participate in the 2019 polls because it could not successfully conclude its primary before the deadline.

In Imo, the APC favoured the governorship candidacy of Hope Uzodimma, the senator representing Imo west, over Uche Nwosu, son-in-law of Rochas Okorocha, governor the state.

Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun governor, fell out with the party’s national working committee (NWC) after it chose Dapo Abiodun as the state’s gubernatorial candidate. Abiodun Akinlade is Amosun’s preferred candidate.

A number of APC governors have expressed disappointment over the way the national leadership of the party had gone about the issues, hence the move against Oshiomhole.
