Day 1: The GTBank Fashion Weekend, Meet the Runway Designers [PHOTO]

Hard work, creativity, and passion, punctuated by the clicking of heels, define a single moment on the GTBank Fashion Weekend Runway Show.

On Saturday, November 10th, and Sunday, November 11th, 2018, thousands of guests will be entertained by this single moment as indigenous and internationally renowned designers showcase their brands on the runway.

These are the designers slated for Day 1 of the 2018 GTBank Fashion Weekend:

ItuenBasi

ItuenBasi’s 2009 collection brought back the proliferation of the Oleku trend which led to the new wave of the Ankara interpretation all around Nigeria and even beyond the shores of Africa. Ituen’s unique use of Ankara has made her the go-to designer for celebrities and fashionistas in search of something beautifully African

Sukeina – Omar Salam

Omar Salam is the Senegalese-born designer behind SUKEINA, a global fashion brand worn by some of the best-dressed women in the world.  He studied fashion at the prestigious Parsons School of Design and has created 8 exquisite collections which strike a resemblance to wearable art.

Romeo Hunte

Romeo Hunte is a self-named lifestyle brand. His collection consists of outerwear pieces that have a mix of cool-girl denim designs and everyday style for the fashion forward-guy. Romeo’s design has been worn by Hollywood A-listers like Beyoncé and Gabrielle Union.

Gozel Green – Sylvia Enekwe and Olivia Jude-Okoji

Sylvia Enekwe and Olivia Jude-Okoji are the brains behind the budding Label, Gozel Green, established in the year 2010. Growing up in the eastern part of Nigeria, Enugu, they were tremendously inspired by their art-loving parents and their immediate environment. These inspirations birthed Gozel Green and thus paved way for artistry, originality and timelessness as their forefront design aesthetics.

Clive Rundel

Clive’s creations are well-known both locally and abroad, adored by bold and fearless women for their charismatic charm. Today, Clive Rundle has established his name as one of the forefathers of contemporary fashion design in South Africa.

Adama ParisAdama Amanda Ndiaye

Adama Amanda Ndiaye is the brain behind Adama Paris, which celebrates the multicultural, elegant, and versatile woman. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, CR Fashion Book and worn by celebrities like Teyana Taylor.

David Tlale

Proclaimed as South Africa’s kind of Fashion, David Tlale designs are known to employ the unpredictable use of fabric, color, and texture, David’s designs have been gracing the runways of NYFW from 2008 till date.

Kenneth Ize Pays Courtesy Visit To Zenith Bank

Mr. Kenneth Ize, a joint winner of the Arise Fashion Week Award for “Designer of the Year” paid a courtesy visit to Zenith Bank Head Office in a show of appreciation for its support to the Fashion Industry.

He was received by the GMD/CEO (Designate), Mr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu and Executive Director, Mr. Dennis Olisa.

The GMD/CEO (Designate) congratulated the organizers of the show (Thisday Arise Team) for putting together an outstanding show and commended the designer for a comprehensive show of talent and creativity.

Labake Adeola, the industrious fashion entrepreneur has carved a niche for herself among fashion buffs. According to her, being rich shouldn’t be confused with possessing panache but many a deep-pocket mistake extravagance for elegance.

“You do not have to be extravagant to be elegant. At Signal Fabric, everyone is classic. Its not the price of your fabrics that stands you out, its what you make with it and how you can spice it up that translate to elegance; it is what differentiates the commoner from the classical.”, and that’s what SIGNAL FABRICS is known for.

Style becomes the essence of every woman, according to Labake. Thus like an emperor of immeasurable chic, her fascination with good fabrics and elaborate lines comes alive in her range of bespoke latest and talk of the town attires. Although her specialty encompasses formal and informal female clothings.

There is no gainsaying Labake’s love for classy couture blossomed quite early in her youth; according to her, she developed a fascination with fashion when she started over 20 years ago and have customers across board. “We started over 20 years ago and have customers across board and we have been able to keep them all these years”.

“Anything you do it’s always best to be upright, sincerity, openness and customer satisfaction has been our key factors for sustenance”.

Labake’s love for fashion and taste for quality was copied from her mum, whom they both started Signal Fabrics from Alade Market in Ikeja Lagos, but the mother did not live long to see it blossom.

Signal Fabrics officially opens its new branch to clients from all over, penultimate Sunday, located on Ajose Adeogun street, Victoria Island Lagos, with its head office at Martins Street, Lagos Island.

The event had in attendance her family, friends, long time customers, society women, and well-wishers who came out to celebrate with the mother of three wonderful boys.

Amongst the guests were, Yeye Yetunde Ogbemudia of Nodony Fashion House, Olori Tokunbo Eko, Socialite Wosilat Seriki, among other several faces at the event.

American Singer, Bobby V, Arrives Nigeria For ‘Style By Zenith’ Fashion Fair

Bobby Wilson, an American singer better known as Bobby V, is in Nigeria to perform at a fashion fair tagged ‘Style by Zenith’.

Bobby V arrived Lagos on Thursday alongside members of his crew ahead of the fair scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The fair, which will take place at the Open Ground by Four Points Hotel, is a two-day lifestyle, beauty, fashion, accessories, and entertainment fair.

‘Style by Zenith’ is a collaboration between Virtual Xchange Limited and Zenith Bank Plc.

Speaking of the event, Kaycee Kennedy, CEO of Virtual Xchange Limited said: “The collaboration with Zenith Bank to develop the ‘Style by Zenith’ platform not only emphasizes our resolve to build and strengthen the fashion ecosystem but to drive the business of Fashion.

“We need to heed the call to focus on Fashion Trade, by making fashion Africa’s biggest export to the world.”

‘Style by Zenith’ will feature runway shows headlined by Nigerian and international models who will be accessorised by top designers and beauticians.

There will also be an exhibition of beauty and lifestyle products, food and confectioneries, as well as performances by top Nigerian artistes.

The Zenith model search, an initiative billed to unfurl in 2019, will also be launched at the fashion fair.
