Tragedy struck in the early hours of yesterday somewhere in Anambra State, as a man stabbed his daughter to death in her sleep.

The man identified as Cletus Aguluka reportedly killed his daughter Onyinye at Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra state. He stabbed her in the stomach as she slept, according to online reports.

The suspect is now on the run after he murdered his daughter, while the body of the deceased has been taken away by the police.

National Assembly Postpones Resumption, New Date Announced

The National Assembly will not be resuming from its recess on September 25, 2018, as earlier fixed.

The cancellation of the resumption of the Senate and House of Representatives was contained in a statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly, M.A. Sani-Omolori, on Sunday.

The new resumption date was put as October 9, 2018.

Sani-Omolori said: “This is to inform all Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 25th September has been postponed to Tuesday 9th October due to the activities of the primaries of the political parties.

“All Distinguished Senators and Honourable members are expected to resume the plenary session by 10 am on the 9th of October, please.”

Polaris Bank Takes Over Skye Bank, CBN Assures Depositors Of Cash Safety

Following the withdrawal of the operating licence of Skye Bank Plc, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in consultation with the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), has established a bridge bank known as Polaris Bank, to assume the assets and liabilities of the defunct bank.

CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who disclosed this on Friday, said the strategy was for the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) to capitalise the bridge bank and begin the process of sourcing investors to buy out AMCON.

“By this decision, the licence of the defunct Skye Bank is hereby revoked.

We wish to assure all depositors that under this arrangement, their deposits shall remain safe and that normal banking services shall continue in the new bank on Monday, 24th September 2018, to enable customers to transact their businesses seamlessly.

“Thus, all customers of Skye Bank shall be automatic customers of the new bank and their accounts and records duly purchased by Polaris Bank,” Emefiele explained.
