Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim kpotun Idris, is plotting to implicate him in a criminal offence. Saraki said he was reliably informed by his state governor, Ahmed Abdulfatah, that the IGP has ordered for the immediate transfer of criminal suspects to Abuja with the ulterior motive to implicate him and the state government.
Speaking at plenary, the Senate President said: “Last night, my state governor, Dr. Abdulfatai Ahmed revealed to me an information at his disposal that a group of suspects who had been in police cells for several weeks for cultism and whose investigation had been concluded with prosecution about to commence under the state law based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, and the Ministry of Justice were ordered to be transferred to Abuja this morning.
“According to the information available to the governor, the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim directed the Commissioner of Police in Kwara state to immediately transfer the men to the force headquarters. The plan, as the governor was made to understand is that, under duress, the suspects would be made to alter the statements they already made in Ilorin. They will then be made to implicate the Kwara state government, and in particular, myself, in their new statement.
“This plot is part of the strategy by the IGP to settle scores over the declaration by this honourable chamber that he is not qualified and competent to hold any public office, within and outside the country and that he is an enemy of Nigerian democracy based on his usual disrespectful conduct towards lawful authorities.
“In my own view, this plot is an act of desperation, blackmail, intimidation, abuse of office and crude tactics aimed at turning our country into a police state where top officials cannot be made to obey the law, follow due process and subject themselves to constituted authorities.
“I want to bring this dangerous development to the attention of all of you my colleagues, the entire country and the international community so that you can be aware of the level of impunity in our country and the danger it constitutes to our democracy,” said Saraki.
Oshiomhole Is An Expert In Falsehood, Manipulation — Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has taken on the National Chairman the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, over the bribery allegation leveled against him, describing the chairman as an expert in falsehood and manipulation.
Okorocha, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwemeodo, said that he was not surprised at the allegation as a member of the party, Ahmed Gulak, had made the same allegation.
He said, “In giving account of his encounter with the DSS, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole once again took on Governor Rochas Okorocha, talking about how the governor offered him bribe and he refused and repeated his claim that he wants to stop the governor from building family dynasty.”
“Alhaji Ahmed Gulak had one month after his kidnap tale also made the same allegation of two million dollars bribe which he said he also rejected. Our worry is that Comrade Oshiomhole and Gulak have decided to impugn on the intelligence of Nigerians with all these their latest accounts.”
“On the side of Oshiomhole he has been telling the world that he wants to stop Okorocha from building a dynasty in Imo. And he only needed to be questioned by the DSS Personnel to remember that the governor offered him a bribe and he refused. Do Gulak and Oshiomhole think that Nigerians are not intelligent enough to detach the truth from falsehood. These are partners in falsehood and they are on a media campaign to cover up the mess they put themselves in Imo.”
To say the least, Adams Oshiomhole is the “father – father”of family dynasty or nepotism or “familiocracy”. Uche Nwosu is from Nkwerre Local Government, while Rochas Okorocha is from Ideato South LGA. They have no relationship aside the inlaw issue. The only relation of Governor Okorocha who is in his government is Ogechi Ololo from Owerri North. She does not answer Ogechi Okorocha. There is no other direct or indirect relation of Okorocha in his government. So, as it stands now, Rochas is the only Okorocha running election.”
INEC Finally Publishes Name Of Imo APC Governorship Candidate
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has finally published the name of Senator Hope Uzodimma as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State.
The Senator’s name was pasted at the INEC office along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, with Akaolisa Cyprian Okechukwu, as his running mate.
Uzodimma’s name was displayed at about 07:52 as the authentic governorship flag-bearer of the APC.
This is coming about after 10 hours after INEC had pasted 67 other governorship names of various political parties, excluding that of APC.
PorscheClassy News had earlier reported that INEC did not add the name of the governorship candidate of APC, in Imo state on the list of governorship candidates it published on Friday.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emeka Ihedioha and 66 others were on the list, while that of the APC was seen missing.
Imo APC Governorship Candidate Missing As INEC Publishes List
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday released the list of governorship candidates in Imo State missing out the name of the candidate representing the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The electoral umpire published 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates at its office in Owerri, the state capital.
Our correspondent who visited INEC’s office in the state saw the candidates’ names and that of their running mates displayed alongside their credentials and personal information.
Among the top names who made the INEC lists are a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ike Ibe of the Independent Party and a former Senator, Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Others are Michael Ikoku of the Young Democratic Party, Linus Okorie of the Young Progressives Party and Alloysius Osuji of Mass Action Joint Alliance.
Three women emerged as governorship candidates. They are, Omeogu Chidiebere of the African Action Congress, Joy Udodiri of MMN and Adaku Ibe of the Democratic Peoples Party.
A source at the INEC office told our correspondent that there were court orders stopping the Commission from publishing the name of the APC governorship candidate.
Uche Nwosu and Senator Hope Uzodinma have been battling both in court and within the party for who should be its candidate.
While Nwosu was declared the winner of the October 6 APC governorship primary, Uzodinma was pronounced winner of the October 1 primary, which allegedly did not hold in the state.
