Lagos leading woman, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, former Lagos first lady, and Senator representing Lagos Central at the red chamber, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluranti Adebule, shall headline the 2018 edition of the Best of Nollywood Children’s Day Book Reading, scheduled for May 27.
According to a statement made available by Seun Oloketuyi, CEO, BON Awards, “As is our tradition  to commemorate the children’s day celebration at BON, the First Lady of Lagos, Mrs. Ambode, Senator Remi Tinubu, and Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule will be reading exciting and educational books with school children in Lagos, alongside other Nollywood stars.
“This is a part of the build up for the celebration of our first decade of hosting BON Awards, the longest running award ceremony for the Nigerian Movie Industry.
“ Nollywood Stars who.will be joining the Lagos leading women are Omono Oboli, Faithia Williams, Bolanle Ninolowo, Mercy Aigbe and others.
“As is our tradition, this is only the first part of the reading. We shall have another reading at our host state, once we unveil the state hosting BON 2018. There is still lined up for this year. We promise”.
He further revealed that, ‘Don’t Touch Me  There’  a book on sexual education by Pastor Nomthi has been selected for tje reading.
In 2017, BON  was hosted in Ogun State, and had the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga with actors, Femi Branch, Doris Simeon, and Yomi Fabiyi read to school children the state. A Lagos edition of the reading was held prior to that, at Trinity International School, headlined by Ruth Kadiri, Funke Adesiyan and Lateef Adedimeji.

I Almost Fainted When I Received N10m From Iya Adura —- Baba Suwe

It is no news that veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina, popular known as Baba Suwe, has been down with an unknown sickness.

He, however, needed financial assistance to take care of himself.

The news of his sickness hit social media and many wellmeaning Nigerians donated to his cause including a Londonbased Nigerian preacher, Abimbola Esther Ajayi also known as Iya Adura.

Iya Adura, who is the general overseer of Love of Christ Generational Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Clapham, London, promise to assist the ailing actor with the sum of N10million.

Immediately she offered to support with N10million and his flight ticket to support whatev-er Baba Suwe had gathered in order to get thorough medical assistance quickly. She spoke to Baba Suwe and offered him prayers.

In a recent interview with Goldmyne TV, the thespian revealed that he almost fainted after receiving the money.

Meanwhile, the actor’s first son, Adesola Omidina, has thanked Nigerians for coming to his father’s aid.

The young man mentioned the individuals and groups who raised a helping hand just so his father could quickly recover. Some of the people he mentioned include the current vice president of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo, the TAMPAN association, individual actors, friends and relatives.

JUST IN: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Donates N1m To Ailing Baba Suwe

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has announced a donation of N1m to the ailing veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina, a.k.a. Baba Suwe, who had solicited for financial support to enable him seek urgent medical attention.

Baba Suwe made the plea for financial support on Monday during an interview with popular broadcaster, Kola Olotu, in Ibadan.

And today, Thursday, the Vice President Osinbajo has already responded through his aides who visited the ailing actor at his Ikorodu Lagos home.

Meanwhile, Theater Arts and Motions Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) also said that the actor has been on the health bill of the association since 2017.

The affable comic actor went out of circulation eight years ago, after enjoying patronage and limelight for decades, because of diabetic complications among other ailments.

Tracing the origin of his current ordeal, Baba Suwe said the crisis started in the United States of America, where he had traveled to, but collapsed, even amidst cheers by fans.

“Since the time I returned to Nigeria, I have been going up and down,” he struggled to tell the radio show host amidst tears.

“They have taken me to different hospitals, yet my condition is getting worse. My situation is so bad now that I can’t walk without a walking stick.”

Baba Suwe also linked his current predicament to the ordeals the NDLEA officials subjected him to while in its custody.

According to him, the mental, psychological and medical stress he underwent, while NDLEA tried to establish that he indeed ingested cocaine, shattered him.

The comedian also lamented that he is yet to receive the N25 million damages initially awarded him.

He said: “The most important issue is that I need money to treat and rehabilitate myself as I have spent all I had on the health challenges.

Also, Baba Suwe shared his account details: First Bank, Babs Omidina Comedy, 2003537811, during the interview.

During an interview with PREMIUM TIMES in September, Baba Suwe revealed that he would release a movie, ‘Oya Gbe Ti’ detailing his 2011 encounter with NDLEA.

He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in 2011 on the suspicion that he ingested cocaine wraps.

During the encounter, the popular comedian was detained for three weeks by the agency, but no drugs were found.

A Lagos High Court subsequently ordered NDLEA to pay the veteran actor N25 million for unlawfully detaining him and to also tender a public apology to him; a ruling the drugs agency appealed.
