The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Friday, met behind closed doors in Lagos with all the APC aspirants for the Ekiti State governorship election. The meeting, which held at the old State House, Marina, had in attendance the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; and about 24 others, hoping to clinch the APC ticket for the July 14, 2018 Ekiti State governorship election.

Also in attendance was a former interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

After the meeting, Tinubu told reporters that the meeting was aimed at putting the APC house in order ahead of the party’s governorship primary in Ekiti State fixed for May 7, 2018.

He said the aspirants were invited to get their commitment to cooperate with one another as well as the party’s leadership for a transparent primary.

Tinubu said, “We invited them; they came over and they have been here for hours. For what purpose? Free and fair primary that is transparent, that is not tainted, that is incorruptible, that is indisputable and they said that is what they demanded of us.

“We have, therefore, agreed to guarantee that there will not be interference in the political situation and to pledge our support for them.”

The former Lagos State governor added that the leadership of the APC also demanded of the aspirants’ cooperation and a promise that whoever emerges the party’s candidate at the end of the May 7 primary (election) would be supported by all.

He also hinted that a resolution was made that everyone should re-converge in Lagos after the primary election to further strategise on how to capture Ekiti State in the July 14 governorship poll.

APC Reacts To Atiku’s Visit To US, Says ”A Thief Remains A Thief Anywhere”

The US chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the recent visit of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar to Washington DC.

Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), visited the US after 13 years, and for the first time since he left office as Nigeria’s vice-president.

But the party in a statement issued by Adeshegun Labinjo, chairman, US chapter of APC said the visit does not absolve Atiku of the purported corruption allegations against him and he should still be held accountable.

The statement read: “the questionable character of the individual does not evaporate because he has stepped on the soil of America

“A thief remains a thief no matter where he or she visits. Obviously, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has every reason to have kept off the USA given the cloak of corruption he is wearing,” the statement read.

“After a long spell of noticeable absence and factual concerns about Alhaji Abubakur Atiku’s antecedents in the USA arising from his dealings with former Congressman William Jefferson of Louisiana, who was convicted and served a jail term on account of bribery resulting from a telecommunication transaction in Nigeria, Atiku is now here again in the US.

“Congressional records point to the fact that Atiku engaged in money laundering through his wife who was then resident in the USA.

“We see Atiku, who is the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria, as a self-centered corrupt Vice President under President Obasanjo’s regime.

“Certainly, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku‘s entry and presence in the USA is a mockery of President Bush Presidential Proclamation 7750 which affirms the denial of US visa to foreign officials involved with corruption and other supporting legislations by the congress. APC-USA believes that Alhaji Abubakar Atiku should be held accountable for his involvement in money laundering.”

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has said that the Minister of Transportation was behind the plot to destroy the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onoghen.

Addressing thousands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters during the PDP State Campaign Rally at Eleme, yesterday, Governor Wike said that the Minister of Transportation made the confession at a meeting with an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Abuja.

He said: “At that meeting in Abuja last Monday, he confessed that he was the person behind the illegal crisis facing the CJN.

He bragged that he will destroy the CJN the way he brought former President Goodluck Jonathan down.

“He wants to destroy the nation’s judiciary. This particular evil will finally consume Amaechi.”

The governor wondered why Amaechi would say that PDP was a party of thieves when he was Speaker for eight years under the PDP and eight years as governor under the PDP.

Reacting to Wike’s accusation, an APC Chieftain, Prince Tonye Princewill, said “People have learnt to disregard what Wike says and this gibberish is no exception.
“Many of us can remember when he called a press conference over missing money in Ikeja, Lagos and his ultimatum to the Federal Government. The man is not worthy of a considered response. Good luck to anyone who takes him seriously.”
