Minister of communication Adebayo Shittu has dismissed the duo of Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida as hindrances to President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid.

This comes on the heels of Buhari’s Monday declaration to run for a second term as the president of the nation.

Shittu said the former heads of state are only human and engender no feeling of apprehension.

He said: “Who is OBJ? OBJ is not God. IBB is not God. Obasanjo was president here, he wanted a third term and he didn’t get it,” he told News Agency of Nigeria.

“What Mr President did yesterday (Monday), we had done that much back on his behalf; that is the Mohammadu Buhari/Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group.

“So what he did yesterday was just a follow-up to what we had done about three months ago.

“And I want to assure you is that by the grace of God, Mohammadu Buhari will become president the second time,” he said.
“The president has distinguished himself as his achievement in three years had surpassed what the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nigeria in 15 years.

“For instance in the area of job creation for youths, no government has ever in one day employed 200, 000 graduates. It has never happened but under Buhari N-Power it happened.

“Through this, he has provided jobs for 200, 000 families spread across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

“Government is still processing the employment of 300, 000 more graduates to make it 500, 000, this has never happened.

“In the areas of transport, works and housing, the last budget of the PDP government was less than N20 billion and most of these monies were stolen; diverted to private pockets.

“In 2017 alone, the Buhari government spent N255 billion on those subject matters; transport, works and housing. So how do you compare?

“Today, government is also building new roads across the South East states with 100 million dollars SUKUK loan; non-interest loan from Islamic Development Bank.

“For the first time, government is building new railway from Lagos to Kano, from Kano to Maiduguri, from Maiduguri to Calabar and from Calabar to Lagos. So the records are there,” he added.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has taken on the National Chairman the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, over the bribery allegation leveled against him, describing the chairman as an expert in falsehood and manipulation.

Okorocha, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwemeodo, said that he was not surprised at the allegation as a member of the party, Ahmed Gulak, had made the same allegation.

He said, “In giving account of his encounter with the DSS, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole once again took on Governor Rochas Okorocha, talking about how the governor offered him bribe and he refused and repeated his claim that he wants to stop the governor from building family dynasty.”

“Alhaji Ahmed Gulak had one month after his kidnap tale also made the same allegation of two million dollars bribe which he said he also rejected. Our worry is that Comrade Oshiomhole and Gulak have decided to impugn on the intelligence of Nigerians with all these their latest accounts.”

“On the side of Oshiomhole he has been telling the world that he wants to stop Okorocha from building a dynasty in Imo. And he only needed to be questioned by the DSS Personnel to remember that the governor offered him a bribe and he refused. Do Gulak and Oshiomhole think that Nigerians are not intelligent enough to detach the truth from falsehood. These are partners in falsehood and they are on a media campaign to cover up the mess they put themselves in Imo.”

To say the least, Adams Oshiomhole is the “father – father”of family dynasty or nepotism or “familiocracy”. Uche Nwosu is from Nkwerre Local Government, while Rochas Okorocha is from Ideato South LGA. They have no relationship aside the inlaw issue. The only relation of Governor Okorocha who is in his government is Ogechi Ololo from Owerri North. She does not answer Ogechi Okorocha. There is no other direct or indirect relation of Okorocha in his government. So, as it stands now, Rochas is the only Okorocha running election.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has finally published the name of Senator Hope Uzodimma as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State.

The Senator’s name was pasted at the INEC office along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, with Akaolisa Cyprian Okechukwu, as his running mate.

Uzodimma’s name was displayed at about 07:52 as the authentic governorship flag-bearer of the APC.

This is coming about after 10 hours after INEC had pasted 67 other governorship names of various political parties, excluding that of APC.

PorscheClassy News had earlier reported that INEC did not add the name of the governorship candidate of APC, in Imo state on the list of governorship candidates it published on Friday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday released the list of governorship candidates in Imo State missing out the name of the candidate representing the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The electoral umpire published 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates at its office in Owerri, the state capital.

Our correspondent who visited INEC’s office in the state saw the candidates’ names and that of their running mates displayed alongside their credentials and personal information.

Among the top names who made the INEC lists are a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ike Ibe of the Independent Party and a former Senator, Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Others are Michael Ikoku of the Young Democratic Party, Linus Okorie of the Young Progressives Party and Alloysius Osuji of Mass Action Joint Alliance.

Three women emerged as governorship candidates. They are, Omeogu Chidiebere of the African Action Congress, Joy Udodiri of MMN and Adaku Ibe of the Democratic Peoples Party.

A source at the INEC office told our correspondent that there were court orders stopping the Commission from publishing the name of the APC governorship candidate.

Uche Nwosu and Senator Hope Uzodinma have been battling both in court and within the party for who should be its candidate.

While Nwosu was declared the winner of the October 6 APC governorship primary, Uzodinma was pronounced winner of the October 1 primary, which allegedly did not hold in the state.
