As the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State is drawing near, Minister of Transportation and the leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has vowed never to support the governorship ambition of the lawmaker representing Rivers South East, Senator Magnus Abe. The minister spoke on Saturday during a meeting with the Ikwerre Chiefs and Elders Forum.

“There is no fight in the APC. I am not in any way stopping Abe from running for the governorship seat, but what I know is that I will not support him. Abe is daring me; an Ikwerre son. He is abusing me every day. I will ensure I use Ikwerre vote on him” he said. He added that his Ikwerre ethnic group had 1. 1 million votes out of the 2 .5 million eligible voters in the state.

Amaechi maintained that the position of the governor in the state was rotational among the various ethnic groups, saying that it would amount to greed should Ikwerre hold on to power for more than 12 years. The former governor said he would support a person from the riverine area to occupy the position of the governor for eight years before power would move to Ogoni. “At the moment, we have not chosen a candidate. Only God will decide who will become the next governor” Amaechi stressed.

Meanwhile, Abe has said the people of the state reserve the right to determine who their leaders will be, stressing that the state must come first. Abe spoke on Saturday during a victory thanksgiving/reception by the federal and state lawmakers elected on the platform of the APC in Rivers State. The senator said, “Now is the time to put the interest of the state ahead of anything else. We must work together so that the people can benefit from the politics we play .”

APC Reacts To Atiku’s Visit To US, Says ”A Thief Remains A Thief Anywhere”

The US chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the recent visit of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar to Washington DC.

Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), visited the US after 13 years, and for the first time since he left office as Nigeria’s vice-president.

But the party in a statement issued by Adeshegun Labinjo, chairman, US chapter of APC said the visit does not absolve Atiku of the purported corruption allegations against him and he should still be held accountable.

The statement read: “the questionable character of the individual does not evaporate because he has stepped on the soil of America

“A thief remains a thief no matter where he or she visits. Obviously, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has every reason to have kept off the USA given the cloak of corruption he is wearing,” the statement read.

“After a long spell of noticeable absence and factual concerns about Alhaji Abubakur Atiku’s antecedents in the USA arising from his dealings with former Congressman William Jefferson of Louisiana, who was convicted and served a jail term on account of bribery resulting from a telecommunication transaction in Nigeria, Atiku is now here again in the US.

“Congressional records point to the fact that Atiku engaged in money laundering through his wife who was then resident in the USA.

“We see Atiku, who is the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria, as a self-centered corrupt Vice President under President Obasanjo’s regime.

“Certainly, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku‘s entry and presence in the USA is a mockery of President Bush Presidential Proclamation 7750 which affirms the denial of US visa to foreign officials involved with corruption and other supporting legislations by the congress. APC-USA believes that Alhaji Abubakar Atiku should be held accountable for his involvement in money laundering.”

Amaechi Behind Plot To Destroy CJN, This Evil Will Consume Him —– Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has said that the Minister of Transportation was behind the plot to destroy the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onoghen.

Addressing thousands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters during the PDP State Campaign Rally at Eleme, yesterday, Governor Wike said that the Minister of Transportation made the confession at a meeting with an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Abuja.

He said: “At that meeting in Abuja last Monday, he confessed that he was the person behind the illegal crisis facing the CJN.

He bragged that he will destroy the CJN the way he brought former President Goodluck Jonathan down.

“He wants to destroy the nation’s judiciary. This particular evil will finally consume Amaechi.”

The governor wondered why Amaechi would say that PDP was a party of thieves when he was Speaker for eight years under the PDP and eight years as governor under the PDP.

Reacting to Wike’s accusation, an APC Chieftain, Prince Tonye Princewill, said “People have learnt to disregard what Wike says and this gibberish is no exception.
“Many of us can remember when he called a press conference over missing money in Ikeja, Lagos and his ultimatum to the Federal Government. The man is not worthy of a considered response. Good luck to anyone who takes him seriously.”
