The House of Representatives on has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to apologise to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
The House gave the order on Wednesday during plenary.
This followed the attention that was drawn to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, who described Ortom as a “drowning man” on a Channels Television programme on Tuesday.
The statement by Moshood led to an altercation with Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, who was also on the programme.
This led to the disruption of the programme for a few minutes, with Moshood eventually tendering apology for the outburst.
