Nigerian Breweries Plc, the foremost brewer in the country has raised the bar in the Ready-to-Drink (RTD) market with the launch of “Ace Desire,” the first zobo-flavoured alcoholic drink into the Nigerian market.

Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Franco Maria Maggi, explained to Journalists at the launch in Lagos on Thursday,thatAce Desire is a sophisticated blend of spirit, natural Hibiscus or zobo extracts, being the traditional beverage produced from Hibiscus leaves. “This rich combination of a balanced mix of spirit and Hibiscus extracts contains 5.5% alcohol, and offers a tingling sensation and rich aroma”, he said.

According to him, Ace Desire,packaged in a 33cl glass bottle, stands out amongst other products on the Ready-to-Drink category. He added that Nigerian Breweries, “the house of quality” has delivered on yet another promise to delight consumers with the introduction of Ace Desire.

“The brand’s ambition is to lead in the Nigerian RTD category by establishing itself as the relentless pioneer of innovation”, Maggi said, while alsopromising that the product will be available in outlets across the country over the next few weeks.

Mr. Franco Maria Maggi disclosed that the extensions of the Ace brand have always been informed by the need to satisfy different consumer taste profiles that evolve and change over time.

It would be recalled that Nigerian Breweries launched the Ace brand in December 2014 with an apple-flavoured alcoholic drink called Ace Passion.In March 2015, Ace Roots, a spirit mixed alcoholic drink made from African herbs and fruits joined the Ace family, while Ace Rhythm, a mix of Vodka and Citrus was unveiled in November 2015.

BON Commiserates With Baba Sala’s Family, Names Comedy Award Category After Him

Following last week’s death of iconic Nigerian comedian, dramatist and filmmaker, Moses Adejumo, popularly known as Baba Sala, the Best Of Nollywood Awards, BON has renamed its comedy category after the late legend.

A statement by the Head of the Best of Nollywood Jury, Niran Adedokun explained that the award will “henceforth be known as the Moses Adejumo Comedy of the Year Award in recognizing the contributions that the late veteran artiste made to the development of comedy in Nigeria.

Adedokun , who noted that Bala Sala was a total performer whose early investments in the alongside many of his contemporaries laid the foundation for the increasingly growing entertainment industry.

“Being Nigeria’s leading homegrown and home focused movie awards, the Best of Nollywood Awards honours the memory of this great man and have decided to name our comedy awards after him. It is the least that we can do as a Nigerian award even though we understand that he deserves much more and hope that our government will consider immortalizing him in some way, the statement offered.

He expressed the condolences of the organisers of the award to the Adejumo family urging them to take solace in the enviable legacy of the late filmmaker who started his career in show business as a highlife musician in 1964 with a group known as the Federal Rhythm Dandies and was noted to have tutored and guided the Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade, who was his lead guitarist at the time.

BREAKING: Veteran Comedian, Baba Sala, Is Dead

Veteran comedian, Moses Adejumo, popularly known as Baba Sala, is dead, The PUNCH is reporting.

According to the newspaper, Adejumo, who hails from Ilesa in Osun State, died on Sunday night at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex Annex (Wesley Guild Hospital) in Ilesa.

His Media Assistant, Isaac Haastrup, confirmed the development to The PUNCH in a telephone interview.

Hastrup said: “Baba has died.

“He died some minutes to 10pm on Sunday night.

“His remains had been taken to the morgue.

“He died of old-age related sickness.

“He came to church two Sundays ago and he was the one that said the benediction.

“Baba has gone to be with the Lord and he will be missed by many people, including his fans.”

BON Awards 2018 Gets Date, Announces October 29 for Host State, Nominees Unveiling

Best of Nollywood, BON Awards, the highly coveted award platform in Nollywood, has announced December 9, as the date for the 2018 edition of the ceremony, which also doubles as the celebration of a decade of the award ceremony, a press statement has revealed.

The statement was made public on Friday, September 28, and signed by the Chief Executive of BON, Seun Oloketuyi.

He revealed that the host state and unveiling of the 2018 nominees will be announced October, 29. Oloketuyi also assured that this years edition which is also the tenth year anniversary of the award will be the mother of all in Nollywood.

BON Awards is an annual film event presented by Best of Nollywood Magazine to honour outstanding achievements in the Nigerian Movie Industry.
